Camryn Marquez Having heard some of Go Hiyama's previous EPs and singles, it is very surprising and refreshing to see them change their approach to producing music so drastically. This album is more concerned with establishing palatial and intricate soundscapes than creating techno bombs. Go Hiyama has tapped into the beauty of electronics and alternate sources of music by breaking apart and obscuring the connection between sound and source and leaving behind only fragmented phonemes: the constituents of human dialogue, subsequent connection, and gregariousness. Favorite track: Breath.

Derek Brewster To stumble across something as great as this album, just through a bargain discography sale, is one of the joys of Bandcamp! Superbly original album. Marked Breath as a fave as it's the immediate standout, but no doubt others will grow on me just as much. Favorite track: Breath.

about

After a prolific career releasing on platforms such as Audio Assault, Token, PercTrax, Stroboscopic Artefacts and the HueHelix imprint Go Hiyama is back with an astounding piece of work that dictates its own path.

‘I Am Goodbye’ graces us with wondrous sound-design and drum patterns that are just as menacing as they are intricate. Based on the concept of denial this full-length takes a steep dive into what here at Parachute we cherish the most - individuality. Steering away from what are his canonic approaches to producing he chooses to leave behind sequencers and synths to further explore the nature of instruments such as piano and vibraphone as well as an array of field recordings. The end result is remarkable proof of the concept behind this album, interpreting denial in an unusually positive course of action allowing him to explore areas of sound he had previously never visited.

A definite highlight here at Parachute and an exemplary release to kick off our 2017 schedule. The year couldn’t have started any better!

'I Am Goodbye’ is designed by Atilla Fidan and released on LP and digital formats.
